Scottsdale Community Hearing on Homeless Hotels, September 13 at 4:00PM

Civic Center Library, 3839 N. Drinkwater Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251.

Rep. Matt Gress (LD4) is holding a Community Hearing on Homeless Hotels. At its June 27th meeting, the Scottsdale City Council voted 6-1 to accept $940,000 from the state to purchase hotel rooms for the homeless from Phoenix’s “the zone” and illegal foreign nationals. LD8 PC and Councilmember Barry Grham was the sole opposing vote. (More background here.) Rep. Gress subsequently challenged the legality of the contract between the Arizona Department of Housing and the City of Scottsdale, and the department backed down. Rep. Gress invites citizens to express their concerns about housing the homeless in hotels. For more information, or to RSVP, email Rep. Gress at: mgress@azleg.gov.
