I am writing in reference to the complaint filed with the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office on October 31, 2023 by David Alger. The records show that David Alger was the Treasurer of the Arizona Legislative District 8 Committee during the time period referenced in the Complaint. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-907(A), the “committee treasurer is the custodian of the committee’s books and accounts.” Any reported contributions or expenditures must be authorized by the Committee’s treasurer of the treasurer’s designated agent. Accordingly, the Complainant had the authority as the treasurer to correct any records of a contribution or expenditure. Therefore, the Secretary of State’s Office is dismissing this complaint.
